Three attempts for NEET UG from NEET 2017: Earlier attempts will not be counted

The union ministry of HRD announced on Friday that three attempts for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test will be counted from NEET 2017. The NEET examination is to be conducted on May 7, 2017, will be considered as the first attempt while the previous attempts will not be considered.

Earlier it was communicated that candidates who had already appeared in the exam three times will not be able to apply for NEET 2017. But now the Department of Health and Family Welfare has announced that the Medical Council of India (MCI) has made it clear that attempts made for AIPMT/ NEET prior to NEET 2017 would not be counted.

The attempt in NEET 2017 will be counted as the first attempt for all the candidates. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made changes in the online application accordingly.

CBSE had announced that announced on 31 January 2017 that NEET (UG) 2017 will be conducted on May 7, 2017, for admission to MBBS and BDS courses across the country. CBSE stated that three attempts will be available uniformly for all the candidates to appear in the NEET UG examination, the same has been amended and modified.

The upper age limit for appearing in NEET has been set to 25 years as on the date of examination. Candidates belonging to reserved categories have been given 5 years of relaxation in age.

This year around 10 lakh candidates are expected to appear in NEET (UG) 2017, which will be conducted at 1500 examination centres in 80 cities across the country. NEET 2017 will be conducted by the CBSE for the first time this year.
